Shihan Frank J. Roman

Shihan Frank J. Roman began his Kyokushin karate training in 1975 at the Kanemura Dojo in Brooklyn, New York. He trained directly under Kaicho Randolph James. In 1979, Shihan Frank joined the U.S. Army, which led to a three-year period in Germany where he practiced Nisei Goju karate under Shihan Clan Jacobs, earning his 3rd Dan rank. Despite these experiences, he frequently returned to Brooklyn to continue his Kyokushin training under Kaicho James.
Shihan Frank earned his Shodan (1st Dan) at the Kanemura Dojo in 1979 and has since continued his martial arts journey, although not as intensively as in his earlier years. Currently residing in Chicago for over 42 years, Shihan Frank teaches karate classes and provides self-defense training as part of the Chicago Police CAPS program. His efforts focus on promoting self-awareness and defense across various communities.
Shihan Frank remains active in the Kyokushin community and holds the rank of 5th Dan in Kyokushin Jutsu Karate under Kaicho Randolph James. He is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and experiences, contributing to the growth and awareness of martial arts.
